Given the stiff competition in the Android smartphone market, manufacturers have been trying different things to make their offerings standout. While Samsung (which had been criticized year after year for its choice of plastic for flagship phones) has gone with a metal and glass build for the Galaxy S6 lineup, LG has been working on a leather back version of their upcoming G4 phone.
The video clip below shows the G4’s genuine leather back in action, but 15 seconds will probably not be enough for you to pass a value judgement on it.
For those who aren’t interested in a leather back, LG will also be releasing the G4 in multiple colors without the leather treatment.
While the G4’s official specs will only be confirmed after it’s release on the 28th, it is believed that it includes a 5.5 inch quad HD display coupled with a 16 mega pixel rear camera. LG’s own UX 4.0 will provide the interface while the phone is expected to come with Android Lollipop.
Pricing isn’t confirmed either, but you will probably have to shell out something between the range of $500 to $650 for LG’s newest flagship.
What do you think about LG’s choice of a leather back treatment for the G4? We personally feel it may cause some issues for people who like to hold on to their phones throughout the day, especially during summers. However, we’d still like to appreciate LG for making an effort to give consumers more options.
