When it comes to gaming, there are quite a few interesting genres to match your mood at the moment and while some folks are into action packed games (as their go-to genre) – whenever they need to pass time – many others love adventure and there are those like me that will rather go the puzzle way. However, it’s no doubt that endless runners have won the hearts of many, as it easily keeps you engaged once you hit that start button.
Platformers have become the new trend for game developers and this has brought about the rise of many different games in this subdivision of infinite active single player runners — ranging from really the amazing ones to the outrageously wacky pack. Here at TDR, we have selected the “Crème De La Crème” down below – some of which you already know.
#1. Temple Run: All of Them
It is obvious that this particular game would be part of the list given the fact that it is definitely one of the most played games on all mobile platforms and there are currently four versions you can download on the Play Store. Run endlessly from an evil flying monkey that will rather see you dead or have you eaten for having stolen a sacred cursed idol. Jump over obstacles, collect coins and upgrade your character and put your reflexes to the test.
Also, keep an eye out for surprising booby traps that show up unexpectedly. The endless track is filled with rows of coins that you could collect whilst on the run. These coins can later be used to purchase powerups and new players for a faster, easier and more enjoyable gaming experience How far and fast can you run before you get caught? Download links below.
Temple Run 2
Temple Run Oz
Temple Run Brave
All these versions mix great audio effects and amazing graphics with your imagination thereby easily putting you in the shoes of the runner. This fully immerses you into the game and make it highly addictive.
#2. Looney Tunes Dash
If you are a Looney Tunes fan then this is definitely the one for you to try out. With all your favourite Looney Tunes characters at your disposal — running to escape from the grasp of your infamous nemesis — collecting power-ups and overcoming obstacles by smashing, sliding or jumping over them is a delight while you advance onto other stages.
Challenges are given to you to complete and rewards await you upon completion along with the unlocking of new zones to run in under the Looney map. Do not forget to grab your collector cards whilst on the run to fill up your Looney Tunes Bin.
#3. Jetpack Joyride
Having stolen a jet-pack from an evil science laboratory, Barry tries to escape the lab whilst the evil scientists try to stop him by bringing up various obstacles in the form of missiles, electrical fields and lasers.
You dodge these obstacles by long-pressing the screen to ascend and letting go to descend. Coins and power-ups are made available and can be collected by the usual up and down routine movement, however, expect an obstacle at the end of every coin collecting section. Therefore, the key to attaining high scores in the game is quick reflex as the jetpack becomes faster the further you go, with more frequent obstacles to overcome.
This game is inspired by the 1982 version of the Atari video game system which was quite successful and received a good rating among gamers. It is now being optimized for Android and lets you control a player named Harry while he tries to survive a deadly volcano.
The same coin collection method is used in upping your gameplay so you may upgrade and buy new power ups but this game has the added fun feature of using the players whip to take out deadly animals like scorpions, rattlesnakes and crocodiles and has death defying obstacles like ravens and piles of rock.
Playing this game requires quick reflexes as the camera angle constantly keeps changing which affects the way the player is being controlled.
#5. Into The Dead
Into the dead is a completely different endless runner game. While most games in its genre require avoiding obstacles, this game is all about killing zombies to stay alive. You are the controller of the player who has survived a zombie apocalypse.
The objective is to stay alive by shooting the undead on your path or avoiding those that you can’t kill. It has surprisingly good graphics compared to most games under this category and players have several other objectives to complete to keep them hooked up and on their toes all the time.
#6. Rayman Jungle Run
In a frantic world filled with creatures of different sorts, you are supposed to run through the jungle fighting against the creatures whilst looking forward to rescuing your imprisoned friends. This game can be played on a local level within a multiplayer setup with four different characters to choose from.
New abilities are made available for different characters as you proceed in the game and they include the ability to glide in mid-air, run on walls, shrink in size and swim to get through treacherous stages.

With different lums to be collected ranging for the smaller golden lums, to Lum king (which are two times the value of golden lums) to the Skull coins which value the same as 25 golden lums.
Runbot brings a Sci-fi effect into the infinite runner platform. The game focuses on a robot that decided it’s done being a terminator and is trying to escape its creators.
The game showcases great graphic details which are aimed at keeping players intrigue when playing. It features two modes of controls, one is swiping your screen while running the other is tilting your device while flying.
There are collectable items which can later be used to upgrade your robot and help it in its quest to escape.
#8. Lara Croft: Relic Run
Here you are the infamous tomb raider and you are set to stop the evil conspiracy that is set to bring the world to its end. Filled up with many different creatures and traps as you run across three different terrains, the desert, the mountain pass and the jungle temple. Overcoming these challenges requires diving, swinging, driving, docking, jumping and shooting at the creatures.
Also, take note of the coins littered across the track as you would be expected to pick them to upgrade your weaponry and your abilities.
#9. Zombie Tsunami And Zombie Tsunami HD
The whole place is in chaos as zombies run through the city looking for whom to add to their numbers. As a zombie, your main task is to find survivors and add them to your hoard.
You can choose which undead you want to be whilst collecting power-ups on the street to enable you to run faster, turn over cars and buses to lay waste to the people inside it and eventually add them to your hoard.
Given the luxury to feed on more than 300 different missions in up to 9 different locations. Graphics are better than average and this game promises to be a thriller though the sounding isn’t all that.
#10 Ski Safari 2
in this game, your character rides on a craft of your choosing, either a snowboard, ski, snowmobile or motorbike whilst racing down the mountain as forces of nature try to engulf you in their rage.
Collect coins and power-ups to upgrade your boards or crafts which will give you an upper hand when in multiplayer mode. With three different courses to pick from, you would sure not get bored anytime soon as your animal friend you meet along the way would aid you through.
This list sure isn’t comprehensive but we are willing to bet that these are by far the best you can come by this year — well so far, (as at the time of this writing); however, if you are into the more mainstream endless runner games like Subway Surfers and the likes, you can read our cover up of last year (link below).
