Time for that 6GB RAM fever, my body is ready!! heck, the industry is ready! This year pretty much saw the rush for Smartphones with 4GB of RAM and the hype train for devices with 6GB of RAM is about to take off and Oppo might just be the captain. The very first 6GB LPDDR4 RAM model will presumably take off in the first quarter of 2016.
Recent images of the device from the popular – not-so -popular Chinese brand – Oppo is currently making rounds on Weibo – China’s popular social network.
The moment we all thought 4GB RAM was an overkill when it was first showcased on the Asus Zenphone 2, but now we can actually appreciate the better memory throughput and the new LPDDR4 tech (as it has proven to be more power conservative than older technologies among other advantages).
The device will reportedly come powered by a Snapdragon 820 MSM8996 chipset, Android 6.0 and 6GB of RAM. The aforementioned handset is also speculated to come as the premium Oppo Find 9 and other specs that are believed the device will tout include — the company’s proprietary charging system — VOOC fast charger, USB Type-C, dual sim and color options of Gold, obsidian, sapphire blue, emerald green, etc.
We also suspect that the smartphone might just be the first to feature Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic fingerprint as there’s no visible fingerprint scanner in the images.
All in all, it might just be fake so be sure to keep a heap of salt nearby as you might need it. However, it is only a matter of time before we start seeing OEMs churning out flagships with 6GB of RAM — which will certainly start in the first half of 2016 as Samsung announced 12GB mobile RAM modules earlier this year.
