With Android phones become thinner, sleeker and more expensive, most users wonder whether they will be able to take the rigors of everyday use, especially those dreadful drops.
If you’re considering buying the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge, you should definitely watch the drop test video below, which has officially been released by Samsung, showing how they conduct their reliability tests.
The test video was originally uploaded on Samsung Tomorrow, where the company states, “as painful as it was to watch the beautiful Galaxy S6 and S6 edge bear the brunt of brutal drop-testing, most of the results made us proud”.
While the video above shows a man relentlessly dropping both the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge from chest-height, neither of the phones seem to show any damage on the front, sides or the back.
According to Samsung, both devices use Gorilla Glass 4, which is among the toughest types of glasses available for smartphones. Similarly, they claim that the aluminium frame of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge prevents the glass from hitting the surface directly and the frame on these devices shares the impact shock with other components to reduce potential damage.
In the end, Samsung state that “both these phones WILL break if you try hard enough, but so will the face of your watch and the windscreen on your car”.
What do you think of the drop tests performed by Samsung? Will you be buying the Galaxy S6 or the S6 Edge? We feel that Samsung is going in the right direction by taking customer feedback seriously and stepping up their game to improve the quality of their flagship devices.
