League of Legends’ new champion Sylas just got a quick buff to his base damage stats and his Abscond ability to help him climb better, as per AzuBK, game designer at Riot.
Sylas’ base Attack Damage is increased from 55.04 to 58, Magic Resist Growth from 0.5/level to 1.25/level and his Abscond / Abduct (E) Damage is buffed from 50/65/80/95/110 to 70/85/100/115/130 at corresponding levels.
Since this was a hot-fix, the change is now live (and the enemy Sylas seemed to dish out more damage than expected in one of my games today).
Sylas isn't climbing as well as we'd hoped, so we're throwing him some safe hotfix buffs.
Attack Damage :: 55.04 >>> 58
Magic Resist Growth :: 0.5/level >>> 1.25/level
Abscond / Abduct (E)
Damage :: 50/65/80/95/110 >>> 70/85/100/115/130

League of Legends is now in its tenth year and is still going strong with amazing new cinematics being released (check out the Awaken video below) and new champions coming up regularly. However, Riot’s balance team has been under fire lately for promoting the current damage-heavy meta and the recent hotfix buff to Sylas is just another example of this.
Sylas, League of Legends’ newest champion, is a very interesting character, with quotes such as, “The great mage rebellion starts now!”, “Those who wait to be freed do not deserve freedom. Onwards, brothers and sisters!” and “See the remnants of my bondage, and know you can be free!” drawing comparisons between his ideals and anarchism and communism.
As with any new champion, it is understandable that Riot wants players to like him/her (and that does depend a lot on the new champions climbing potential) – with Neeko for instance, she was considered OP by many after her release, and it was just recently that she got a slight nerf for better balance.
It remains to be seen whether this new buff will improve Sylas’ pick and win rates – which are considerably weak (only about 45% in the top lane as per Op.gg). Meanwhile, Sylas players can pick up the Lunar Wraith skin from the in-game store for 1350 RP.
How do you like Sylas? Do you think he is OP or balanced just right? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. See you on the Rift!
