Earlier this month, Huawei reportedly launched the P8 Lite(2017) that was spotted running on Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI 5.0 out-of-the-box.
Now, a roadmap for releasing the EMUI 5.0 to its other mid-range smartphones has surfaced online. According to the leak, Huawei’s Honor 6X, Honor Note 8, Huawei Nova, and Huawei G9 Plus are all expected to receive the update before the end of this year’s fourth quarter.
According to the report, the first mid-range smartphone device likely to receive the update is the Huawei Nova handset, to be followed by the Honor Note 8 and Huawei G9 Plus – all set to take in March and April, respectively. The Honor 6X and MediaPad M3 tablet on the other hand, are expected to get the Android Nougat-based EUI 5.0 update come May.
Last year November, Huawei unveiled EMUI 5.0 alongside the launch of its flagship Mate 9 for the first time. Shortly after that, the company officially announced its designated roadmap for Android 7.0 Nougat release. It was during that period that Huawei announced its plan to roll out the Nougat update to the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova, and Huawei Nova Plus smartphone devices.
According to more reports, the Huawei claims that the new EMUI 5.0 ROM brings along a lot of improvements in interface design and security. The company, also reportedly claims that with the introduction of EMUI 5.0, users can activate 90 percent of the main functions in no more than three clicks.
The update also comes with power management to improve battery efficiency as well as sporting an App Lock functionality that allows a user to lock specific apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and many others, with a unique password for added security.
