While most smartphone manufacturers focus on advertisements (check out Samsung’s Galaxy S6 vs Jetman ad), LG is taking a different approach to marketing their upcoming flagship, the LG G4.
After announcing a six-week trial period for 200 users in the UK earlier, the company is now setting its sights on the US and have announced their LG G4 Trial Program for the region, with a few major changes.
Unlike the UK campaign, participants in the US can actually get the LG G4 for keeps if they sign up for the program and get selected. According to the LG “a small group of VIPs” will be getting exclusive access to the phone and “if you’re selected, you’ll receive a FREE brand-new G4 and a unique social media challenge to help you explore and show off the device’s full capability”.
We can safely assume that LG, after giving away the phone to those lucky people who are selected, would like some promotion from their end, which will be covered by the “unique social media challenge” part of the rules.
Registering for the trial is fairly simple, just head over to LG’s G4 Trial Program page and fill in the form to enter it. No dates for the giveaway are provided, but since it promises exclusive access, we can expect it to be before the phone’s actual release in June.
What do you think about LG’s strategy to promote the G4? Will you be signing up for the trial? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
