As the Elephone brand continues to tease us about its incoming flagship the R9, which is said to feature very thin bezels, the latest report indicates that the company is planning to include a fingerprint sensor on the home button of the device which covered with glass rather than other synthetic coating solution.
As per the company’s statement- “High gloss coating has a low yield (less than 80%), and Matte Coating program is inconvenient and unsatisfactory in aesthetics and reliability. The cover solution, on the other hand, is aesthetic, ergonomics, reliable with high hardness (more than 6H).”
As regards to this, Elephone explained that the coating solution is cheaper, and the technology is disastrous like bad abrasion resistance and low surface hardness (3H). Although that solution is pricier than the basic coating, the firm intends to minimise production cost to balance its books and no doubt the cover coating will ensure high performance.
Being similar to the iPhone 7 in a metal body, the R9 device is going to look and feel premium which will improve the hand-feel and make the fingerprint identification quick and accurate. Elephone might be planning to include the same glass protection on their future devices for an efficient and durable fingerprint sensor.
Based on the internal specifications as earlier leaks confirmed, it is said to come with a 5.5-inch Full HD bezel-less screen, powered with a deca-core Helio X20, RAM of 3GB and 32GB of internal storage, running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
As far as the camera is concerned, it is sporting a 16MP camera on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. Apart from the Rose Gold colour option, colours such as Pure Gold, Blue, and Grey have been touted to come along.
