Meerkat, the popular live streaming app for Twitter is now available for Android in beta and can be downloaded from the Play Store. The app was available earlier in closed beta but now anyone can download it directly (link shared below).
If you haven’t heard of Meerkat, it’s an app which allows you to stream live videos to your Twitter followers all at once and engage them. The app was originally available on iOS and is hugely popular among iPhone users.
Now you can download the app on your Android phone or tablet, log in to your Twitter account and stream your own videos live for your followers. You can also view videos being streamed by others and the app also has a leaderboard you can check.
Unfortunately however, the Android release of Meerkat hasn’t been as smooth as its iOS counterpart. Users are suffering from crashes and the inability to stream videos. The app’s rating on Google Play has also declined, but since the app is released in beta mode, bugs and issues are to be expected.
We expect the developers to iron out the initial bugs and performance issues in upcoming updates. Meanwhile, we’d love to hear feedback from those of you who have managed to make it work.
