Apex Legends’ Characters Powers & Abilities Explained

Apex Legends has taken the video game world by storm with its release this month. Given how Fornite ruled the Battle Royale genre for a while now, Apex Legends is being considered a Fortnite killer by many, though that may not be true. Regardless, Apex Legends is a refined shooting game with several different characters or legends, each with their own unique abilities and powers. Whether you’re new to the game or just want to learn about the characters before you start, we’ve got all the legends with their powers and abilities explained in this post.

#1. Bloodhound

As the name suggests, Bloodhound is a hunter, excelling in tracking and killing targets. His identity is a mystery, and he is unlocked from the start of the game.

Passive Ability: Tracker – Bloodhound is able to identify and comment on clues left behind by enemies

Tactical Ability: Eye of the Allfather – Bloodhound is able to briefly see targets in his vicinity, whether they are behind walls or smoke

Ultimate Ability: Beast of the Hunt – Bloodhound charges and gets enhanced senses, seeing trails left behind by enemies, allowing him to track and kill with speed

#2. Bangalore

Weapons specialist Anita Williams was in the armed forces and her call sign was Bangalore. She is now competing in Apex Legends and her abilities are geared at boosting her tactical advantage and unleashing a world of pain.

Passive Ability: Double Time – Bangalore runs faster when under fire and taking hits, allowing her to escape or reposition

Tactical Ability: Smoke Launcher – Bangalore launches a smoke grenade, impairing enemy visibility and making it easier for her to get the drop on them

Ultimate Ability: Rolling Thunder – Bangalore is able to call an artillery strike on a position, damaging all enemies caught in it

#3. Caustic

Caustic revels in his death traps and poisonous chemicals which can choke and wipe out entire squads. He is not unlocked from the start and players need to purchase him via in-game currencies.

Passive Ability: Nox Vision – Caustic is able to see all enemies surrounded by his poisonous gas. This allows him to shoot them as they struggle to breathe

Tactical Ability: Nox Gas Trap – Caustic can set up poisonous gas traps, which he can detonate by shooting, or they auto trigger as enemies get closer, releasing the gas

Ultimate Ability: Nox Gas Grenade – Caustic can throw a grenade with enough gas to spread over a large area and deal damage to an entire squad. The grenade does have an arming time, so you can’t really use this ability if you’re exposed to enemy fire

#4. Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a gentle giant of sorts, with his towering figure and a mix of defensive and offensive abilities. He is unlocked from the start and is a useful addition in any squad.

Passive Ability: Gun Shield – Gibraltar gets a gun shield around his weapon whenever he is taking fire, blocking some of the damage

Tactical Ability: Dome of Protection – Gibraltar throws a shield generated which deploys a dome which blocks enemy fire for about 15 seconds

Ultimate Ability: Defensive Bombardment – Gibraltar calls in an airstrike at a target location, damaging all enemies caught in the radius

#5. Lifeline

Lifeline is the ultimate support with all her abilities and powers aimed at reinforcing her teammates. Lifeline is unlocked and available from the start.

Passive Ability: Combat Medic – Lifeline is able to revive fallen teammates faster with a damage blocking shield

Tactical Ability: D.O.C Heal Drone – Lifeline deploys a drone which can heal nearby allied champions even during firefights

Ultimate Ability: Care Package – Lifeline can call for a care package to be delivered on the field, including weapon enhancements and other items

#6. Pathfinder

In the search for his creator, Pathfinder is a freely unlocked scouting robot armed with a grappling hook and more.

Passive Ability: Insider Knowledge – Pathfinder can hack survey beacons to identify the next location of the ring, steering his team in the right direction

Tactical Ability: Grappling Hook – Pathfinder is able to use his grappling hook to hop across the map, reach different locations or scout ahead for his squad

Ultimate Ability: Zipline Gun – Pathfinder uses his Zipline Gun to deploy a zipline that can be used by others to quickly escape, or get the drop enemy squads

#7. Wraith

Wraith is an interdimensional fighter with the ability to bend space and make some awesome plays. She is unlocked and available from the start.

Passive Ability: Voices from the Void – Wraith can hear voices from the void, alerting her to certain dangers and situations on the map, which can then be shared with her squad

Tactical Ability: Into the Void – Wraith becomes invisible and un-targetable for a short duration, she can’t see enemies during this transition but can easily reposition to surprise or escape

Ultimate Ability: Dimensional Rift – Wraith can create connected portals across the map, allowing anyone to travel across them

#8. Mirage

Equipped with advanced holographic technology, Mirage is a master trickster who doesn’t take anything too seriously. Players can unlock him with in-game currencies.

Passive Ability: Encore – When knocked down, Mirage deploys a decoy and cloaks himself for 5 seconds, allowing an escape

Tactical Ability: Psyche Out – Mirage can confuse and distract enemies by sending forward a moving decoy, particularly useful for drawing enemy fire

Ultimate Ability: Vanishing Act – Mirage deploys a team of decoys to confuse and distract enemies while he makes his escape
