Sometime last week, we saw Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi sending out invites for a launch event in New Delhi that’s said to take place on July 18.
As expected, the event will likely host the release of the Mi Max 2 handset in India. To recall, the handset was initially released in the China market and with two major highlights being its massive screen and battery. The handset came with a price tag of CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 16,100).
The Mi Max 2 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and was released in two storage options in China.
One came with 64GB inbuilt storage, while the other offered 128GB storage. The latter was priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 18,900). However, it is still unknown whether both the version will roll out to the Indian market.
Running MIUI 8 based on Android Nougat, the handset packs a 12-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and dual-LED flash that the company claims is identical to the Mi 6.
The phone is backed by a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that is similar to its predecessor. Xiaomi touts the 5300mAh battery and claims it can last up to two days and comes with Quick Charge 3.0 that can power up the battery up to 68 percent in just one hour.
As of now, this is all the information we know about the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, so we will just have to wait until the company releases more information.
