Given how crucial marketing is to the success of smartphones in this day and age (ask Samsung), manufacturers often spend massively on advertising campaigns for their Android phones and tablets. Huawei, in a similar bid to create hype ahead of the Ascend P8’s launch, has released a teaser trailer featuring a mystery man.
In the trailer (you can view it below), fake news telecasts show that a total solar eclipse has cast a huge shadow and a mystery man is reported to be going around stealing, or rather attracting light from all and any sources, including camera flashes, camp fires and car headlights.
The teaser trailer ends with an infinity, or horizontal 8 symbol, probably signifying the Ascend P8, and an end note saying “See the wonder of light April 15, London”. Given the trailer’s theme, we can assume that camera enhancements are to be expected, possibly allowing for better photographs in low-light conditions.
Meanwhile, the Ascend P8, which will be launched officially on April 15 in London, is believed to house a Kirin 930 cpu, 3 GBs of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, a dual-lens camera and a 2600 mAh battery. Other details, including price and confirmed specs
will be known once the phone is unveiled are now available as well.
What do you think of the Ascend P8 teaser trailer? We feel while the concept is nice, the execution, especially the special effects, could have been better. However, does the teaser succeed in generating hype? We believe it does a mixed job. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this too.
