Folks over at Blackberry have been uncharacteriscally quite after striking a deal with TLC, who purchase the company’s mobile arm. A lot of us were expecting Blackberry tagged handsets to start popping up everywhere.
It is no secret though that despite being silent when companies like LG, Samsung, Huawei are churning out devices like candy, Blackberry is probably cooking up something that they might reveal in the upcoming CES in Las Vegas.
Unconfirmed rumours have it that there are several devices in works and one of them would definitely come with a Qwerty keyboard akin to devices made by the company.
Based on the leaked images that have surfaced so far, one of the devices codenamed Blackberry Mercury – a device that shares some characteristics with the BlackBerry passport.
Some features it comes with includes: a dual curved-edge screen (although the curves seem mild compared to others sporting a similar design), Snapdragon 821 chipset, a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU, and also the physical QWERTY.
What differentiates this QWERTY from that of the passport is that mercury doesn’t just have a combination of physical keys but also includes punctuation and numbers.
like always, all these features would mean nothing if the battery power isn’t there. The phone comes with a big battery that can keep the device going for two days straight after a single full charge.
And for the first time, they would also include fingerprint scanners which would be embedded in the space bar. Blackberry has been in business for quite a long while now and yet they haven’t been able to beat or compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple or other manufacturers. As a result, the company is focusing on software and services.
