Gionee, like many smartphone manufacturers, is popular for releasing smartphones with decent specifications that are budget friendly for consumers. Recently, — last month to be precise — Gionee launched the M6 and M6 Plus smartphones, featuring an inbuilt data encryption chip claimed to provide additional security over communications and user content.
The smartphone manufacturer has yet released an upgraded edition to last year’s Gionee S6, which is known as the Gionee S6s where the “s” is noted as a selfie-focused phone.
The Gionee S6s sports a metal build and feature a front-facing flash module to enhance low-light selfie performance. It comes equipped with a 13MP back camera along with Sony IMX258 sensor, f/2.0 aperture. It also includes an 8MP front facing the camera with a f/2.2 aperture, a 5P lens, and a front-facing flash as well.
Connectivity features include 4G (with VoLTE), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB. A 3150mAh battery completes the package. It has hardware capacitive navigation keys, and we can also glean a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
Delving further into the specifications, the Gionee S6s boasts a 5.5-inch full-HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution along with a 2.5D curved-edge glass.
It uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It is equipped with a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor paired with 3GB RAM. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 located at the top, the smartphone packs in an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The smartphone retails at Rs 17,999 and will be available via Amazon India. It will be available via offline retail stores in the near future as well. The colour options available are Latte Gold and Mocha Gold variants.
