Following rumors that Qualcomm was getting set to release more than one new mobile SoC in the Snapdragon 600 series – to release Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 alongside the Snapdragon 660 – it seems like the company has finally fulfilled its promise.
After the company’s press invite that was sent out some time ago, Qualcomm was expected to release its Snapdragon 660 SoC alongside Snapdragon 635 and Snapdragon 630 SoC as well.
While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC is said to be the successor to Snapdragon 652 SoC, the details about the other two SoCs are currently very little.
Based on previous reports, the Snapdragon 660 SoCs could potentially offer custom Kryo cores just like on Snapdragon 820 or it can come with a combination of four Cortex-A73 CPUs clocked at 2.2GHZ and four Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.9GHz. The GPU paired with the processor will be an Adreno 512.
Previous leaks also, hinted that the Snapdragon 660 SoC will sport support for UFS 2.1 storage and offer two LPDDR4 RAM modules clocked at 1866MHz.
The SoC is also claimed go into mass production in the second quarter of this year and is expected to power handset devices from Oppo and Vivo.
Apart from these companies, Nokia 7 Nokia 8, and the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 handset are also stated to get Snapdragon 660 SoC.
