The fingerprint scanning technology is gradually becoming rampant and the feature has just been around for barely four years now.
Not only is the technology seen on flagship handsets, it also rolls out with mid-rand and entry-level devices as well. In fact, according to a recent survey, Fingerprint Scanner will be in nearly all of the handsets that will launch next year.
The report further claims that more than one billion handset units will feature the fingerprint sensor technology in 2018.
Notably, the fingerprint scanner was made popular by Apple’s iPhone 5s smartphone and since then, many other handset manufacturers have followed the same trend.
Moving on, the research also shows a very high probability for a standard authentication choice on handsets that will be launched next year.
As it turns out, smartphone giants like Samsung, Apple, and Huawei are seen topping the charts of handsets with the fingerprint scanner technology.
As of the second half of 2017, South Korean tech giants, Samsung was reportedly seen occupying the first position in the league of fingerprint scanning smartphones.
The report claims that 12 percent of all the smartphones that offered the fingerprint sensor was brought by Samsung. Apple and Huawei, on the other hand, were seen bearing 11 percent and 8 percent scores respectively.
While some might be wondering what makes the fingerprint scanner to be in such a demand, reports, however, have shown us that more people across the globe are beginning to use features such as mobile payments and mobile banking that requires the use of fingerprint a lot.
This is arguably one of the major reasons why handset developers have decided to offer the feature on their products.
