Six months after the launch of the Meizu Pro 6, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer (Meizu) is on the verge of introducing the next-generation successor, the Pro 7 which will be announced come September 13 under the bold slogan “Pro than Pro”.
As several images of the device leaked recently, it appeared with a curved design which will make the use of the phone easy in single-handed mode. Also seen is the oval physical home button with an embedded fingerprint scanner.
The new smartphone looks no different to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, due to its curvy display and the specs inside. Meizu and Samsung have previously had a close business relationship, with Meizu purchasing many of Samsung’s latest components directly.
The Meizu Pro 7 will feature a dual camera set up which is visible at the back of the flagship. There is a large primary camera and just beneath is the supporting camera (12MP camera + 5Mp front cam), which perhaps should provide depth of field only. There is also the Meizu exclusive “Ring Flash” just under the second camera.
Also visible at the back are antenna lines both at the top and bottom edges. It is powered by the Exynos 8890 chipset, and will carry 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The price will likely be around $451 (3000 Yuan). The September 13th launch date, unfortunately, is still three weeks away. A competitively priced Meizu flagship featuring a curved edge display is certainly an alluring prospect, but it won’t be the first third-party phone on the market to make use of Samsung’s cutting-edge display technology. Stay tuned as more details will emerge soon!
