IDC Smartphone Vendor Market Share Of Q2 2015 – Lenovo Proudly Owns The 5th Place

The highly competitive market of Asia is no doubt increasing with Chinese OEMs going well over and beyond borders with their aggressively priced smartphones.

Today, China can boast of three smartphones manufacturers listed in the top five of the world and as much as you may argue the relevance of this statistics – the importance of such data is well above “important” as the growth of any particular single company will continue to be relevant — and those that remain or make it to the top of the food chain deserve a mention and the attention of the entire tech industry.

According to statistical data revealed by IDC – “Smartphone Vendor Market Share, 2015 Q2″, — Samsung still tops the list of smartphones shipped in Q2 of this year – pretty much maintaining a tradition of owning the crown (well at least for four years now) – falling in the next place is Apple and according to the data above, the fruit company has maintained a healthy percentage through the years.

Unsurprisingly, we have Huawei falling in the third place, still nowhere near the aforementioned top dogs and next, we have Xiaomi closely following behind its immediate competitor – Huawei – the company has seen a reasonable increase over the years – thanks to its Redmi Note series and Mi4 flagship.

Proudly owning the fifth place is the pretty much stalled Lenovo-Motorola OEM that has seen a significant drop of 2.3 percent in Q2 from 8.0 percent in Q2 of 2014.

Interestingly, nothing has really changed so much this year but we are expecting some real competition and, even more, exciting technologies that will continue to drive the industry next year.

We at TDR already feel the compelled need to wish our readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to bringing you the latest and greatest of the tech industry in the coming years.
