The third handset in HTC’s U series dubbed HTC U Ocean has once again been revealed in a leak online. Going by this new leak, the handset sports a metal and glass design with front-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Many will agree that the design spotted in the leak is a bit similar to recently launched HTC U Ultra and HTC-made Google Pixel.
The handset has been tipped to come with ‘Edge Sense,’ a new feature that allows users to interact with their handsets.
The HTC U Ocean is also rumored to be coupled with sensors on its metal strip which will allow a user to gain access to different kinds of features including launching the camera, HTC Sense Companion and many more.
The handset codenamed Ocean is tipped to sport a 5.5-inch display with WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
The smartphone will run Android 7.1 Nougat with Sense 9 based customization for new user interface. Powered by Snapdragon 835, the HTC U handset is also expected to offer 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor on the back and 16MP IMX351 at front.
Separately, HTC has announced that the U Ultra which came with Snapdragon 821 was mainly to fill the void left by the unavailability of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset.
Nevertheless, the company is expected to go big with the HTC U Ocean, as it plans to take on Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ — depending on whether or not the Edge Sense is a compelling experience or just another handset catch. HTC U Ocean is expected to be released sometime this month and retail release is tipped to occur sometime in May.
