Google Will Launch Two OEM-branded Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatches in 2017: Report

After series of successful launches made by Google, earlier this year, the company is reportedly on the verge of announcing it plans to release two new Android Wear smartwatches in the first quarter of 2017.

After Google’s OEM partners Motorola, Huawei and LG refrained from going public with their plans to launch new smartwatches at the end of this year, it only proves to many that the clear that the search giants have not given up on wearables yet.

According to one report, the Google reportedly confirmed its decision to unveil two OEM-branded flagship smartwatches based on Android Wear 2.0. Interestingly enough, these new smartwatches won’t feature Google or Pixel branding, which automatically hints that these will be mere Nexus-style devices. Google is only working together on design and software integration like Nexus range of smartphone devices in the past.

Furthermore, the company reportedly claims that the unveiling of its new wearables are expected to be updated to Android Wear 2.0. Also, putting into consideration, the fact that Android Wear doesn’t have as much fragmentation as Android smartphones, the update will certainly reach all devices.

What’s more, the Android Wear 2.0 comes with a host of new features that includes support for standalone applications and native Android Pat. Furthermore, the watch also sports Google Assistant which makes it possible for users to speak more to their watches than type or touch.

Google reportedly claims that post launching of these flagship smartwatches will be one of its first kinds from Android Wear partners. The company also reportedly suggests that many should expect to see new smart-watches running Android Wear 2.0 at CES as well as Baselworld trade show events.
