Whilst they kept us busy with news regarding their upcoming Asus Zenfone Zoom S and the upcoming Asus Zenfone 4 series, the folks over at this OEM already had something else in the works for us. We just spotted a new handset with the model number ASUS X00ID get benchmarked by the GFX Bench and we got to see what this smartphone has to offer.
The above device sports a 5.5 inch HD touchscreen display having a resolution of about 720 x 1280 pixels. Above the screen will be an 8 megapixel shooter to quench all selfie and video calling app desires. This sensor accompanies a main twin camera on the back panel which comprises of 13MP + 5MP sensors.
The Asus X00ID will be graced with the Android Nougat OS fully operational from the box. Ticking under the hood at a speed of 1.4GHz will be an octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor from Qualcomm that will be aided by an Adreno 505 GPU. This definitely implies that this handset will be aimed at the mid-range market and we can see it coming up with specs that will keep it afloat this already crowded spectrum.
Also making an appearance on the system on chip will be 3GB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 32GB that should possibly be made expandable through a microSD card slot.
These are the only details we could get from GFX Bench and it is not enough for us to speculate which handset this is. We might be looking at a device from the Zenfone 4 series nonetheless, there is word out that this series will be exclusive to MediaTek SoCs.
Since the Zenfone has been speculated to launch in May, we will just have to wait a few more days before we can really be certain with regards to where the X00ID really belongs to.
