The Chinese company- Hisense is relatively unknown when it comes to a smartphone but it has become a major player in Malaysia in terms of television sets. While making our rounds around MWC 2017’s massive show floor, we stumbled upon the Hisense booth and one interesting device that caught our attention is the Hisense Rock.
The Hisense Rock is a brand new smartphone, and judging from the name, it is being built like a rock but doesn’t look like one. It is a super rugged device which is the main highlight of the flagship.
In an effort to convince us of its durability, the company’s representative picked the Hisense Rock and repeatedly smashed the phone to the ground. After the whole drama, the phone came out fine with barely any sign of scratches. The phone is built with IP68 certification ensuring it lasts in extreme conditions.
Another observation of the device is the ability to function effectively after being dipped into a pool of water, unlike other rugged phones that are marketed as “waterproof and dust-proof handsets” with closed flaps protecting the audio and power ports.
Down to the specs, the Hisense Rock features a 5.2” 1080p display coupled with Snapdragon 430 chipset. Underneath, the RAM is 3GB along with 32GB of internal storage which is further expanded to 128GB via MicroSD storage slot.
Additional features include a camera of 16MP at the rear supported with a front camera of 5MP selfie shooter. There is a massive battery of 3000mAh which should last long for a full day’s work and will be driven by Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box.
There is no shipping date allocated to the Hisense Rock yet, but with the hope that it will be launched soon.
