After Tweeting a teaser of the Galaxy S6 Active recently, AT&T finally announced the rugged version of Samsung’s flagship Android phone and now you can buy it directly from AT&T’s website.
The price plans for the Galaxy S6 Active from AT&T include $694.44 for a one-time payment, $199.99 for a two-year contract or a $28.96/month installment over two years with AT&T Next.
The carrier had also shared a video of the phone earlier, which, while sporting roughly the same internal goodies as the stock S6, is dust and water proof, thanks to its rugged build.
With the Galaxy S6, Samsung made the move towards more premium materials and a phone that truly looks and feels like a flagship. However, the S6 Active faces design constraints due its priority being durability.
Appearance wise the Galaxy S6 Active looks a lot like its predecessor, the Galaxy S5 Active, but you will get a 5.1 inch QHD S-AMOLED display, Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset, 16 Megapixel rear sensor and Android Lollipop 5.0.2 out of the box with the S6 Active.
It also has a 64-bit processor and a large, 3500 mAh battery which supports wireless charging. Be aware however that even with the rugged features, the S6 Active is not invincible – it can only withstand being submerged in 1.5m depth for 30 minutes and take moderate shocks.
Samsung has included some software tweaks in the S6 Active as well, with easy access to apps like weather, stopwatch, flashlight and S Health.
You can get the phone from today on wards and choose between plain and camo color schemes like gray, blue and white.
Have you been waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active? We’d love to hear your feedback if you buy and try Samsung’s flagship’s rugged sibling.
