Amazon Free App of the Day List for Android & BlackBerry – Jan 2015

Who doesn’t like free apps? If you have an Android, you’re probably used to a huge variety of free apps available on the play store, but you would still jump at the opportunity to get paid apps for free. Well, the Amazon App Store for Android makes that wish come true and offers a Free App of the Day for Android devices (and BlackBerry 10 devices which have the Amazon App Store installed).

To make sure you don’t miss out on a good paid but free app, we’ve decided to create a list of all the apps Amazon offers for free on a daily basis. The page will be updated as best and as fast as we can, and we recommend that you come back here everyday to check out new paid Android apps you can download for free.

Installing Amazon App Store

The Amazon App Store can only be accessed if you download their app and install it on your Android or BlackBerry 10 device. You just have to download the application from thisΒ link and then run the installer. If you are using an Android device you will need to allow installation of apps from unknown sources (it is an option in your settings).

Installing the app store on your BlackBerry 10 device can also give you easy access to Android apps and most of them do work. Alternatively, if you are interested in checking out other Android app stores, you can look at our guide here.

21/1/2015 – Stopwatch Xtreme

Today’s free app is a lackluster offering with a couple of negative reviews, especially about the paid app not being any better than the free version along with its inability to do 1/100th of a second despite advertising it. If you still want to try it out though, check out the link below.

20/1/2015 – TextTwist 2

TextTwist 2 is today’s app on Amazon and as the name suggests its a word game. Players have to unscramble words in five difficulty modes and the app has fair reviews, but since it’s free today, you can give it a go.

19/1/2015 – Fortune Cookies Deluxe

Today’s free app of the day is Fortune Cookies Deluxe, which, honestly, isn’t all that great an offer. The app basically lets you crack cookies, read your daily fortune and forward it to your friends too. We don’t eagerly recommend that you try the app, but you can check it out by visiting the link below.

18/1/2015 – Paper Monsters

The adorable Paper Monsters is available for download on the Amazon App Store today and is usually priced at $0.99. The game is genuinely ‘cute’ and has a great sound track to go with it. The 2D side scroller also has glowing reviews and is definitely worth a try at today’s no risk offer.

17/1/2015 – Dabble

Today’s free Android app on Amazon is an award-winning game by the name of Dabble. Yes, it comes from Scrabble, and is a word game with great reviews. The paid version available for free today supports HD graphics, which means its great for both phones and tablets. If you’re a fan of word games, this is your chance to get one of the best ones without paying a penny.

16/1/2015 – Dream Flight

Today’s free Android app on Amazon is Dream Flight, a game simulating the dream world where players drift from level to level. It is essentially an endless runner with pixel graphics but the music is the real show stealer here. The game has good reviews, and while the original price is $1.99, you can download it for free today.

15/1/2015 – PeakFinder Earth

PeakFinder Earth is today’s free Android app on Amazon. While we haven’t personally downloaded it, the app developer claims that it has over 250,000 names of mountain peaks and is a good app for hikers and mountain climbers. It is also recommended by National Geographic, but the reviews aren’t very positive. Still, since it’s free, it’s worth a download.

14/1/2015 – Blox

Blox is an Android game worth $0.99 and is available for free today on Amazon. The game is a small download (around 3 MBs) and is a really nice time killer. There isn’t much to praise about the visuals, but the gameplay is simple and a different take on Tetris. You shoot colored blocks at those stacking up and try to clear the field using quick combos. If you want a good, small game for killing time, try this out.

13/1/2015 – Weather Ex

Weather Ex is Amazon’s free app of the day and is ordinarily priced at $1.99. The app can fetch your location with GPS and show animated weather conditions. Widgets are also available and can be set up on your lockscreen. This premium version also doesn’t have any ads, so its a good deal if you don’t have any other paid weather app on your Android phone or tablet.

12/1/2015 – 3-1 Hidden Object: Hidden Mysteries World

If you are a fan of hidden object games, today is your lucky day. You can download a 3-in-1 Amazon exclusive, Hidden Mysteries World game which normally costs $1.99. The game has tons of content and fairly good reviews, making it worth a download. Get it from the link below now before time runs out.

11/1/2015 – Chimpact &Β Frederic – Evil Strikes Back

The free app of the day for today is Chimpact, which has some great reviews while there is another free offering in the shape of Frederic – Evil Strikes Back. While the Amazon App Store on my phone is showing Frederic as the free app of the day, the web version of the store is showing Chimpact. However, both games can be downloaded for free today (and I am downloading them as I write this). You can get them both below.

10/1/2015 – Melodious

The Amazon Free of the Day for today is Melodious. Let me start by saying it’s not going to win any awards for visuals and is very, very simple. However, the gameplay is addictive to some extent, and is much like Fruit Ninja, where you have to tap the screen before the balls or other shapes bouncing up and down touch the base.

The paid version of the app which is available for free today does not have any adverts, which is a good thing, and includes three different game modes, Story, Arcade and Zen. I personally liked the Zen mode where you can create different musical tones as you play.

Difficulty level ramps up quite a bit as you progress in the game and it can get a little frustrating at times when the balls start dropping, quite literally.

All in all, Melodious is a good free app of the day from Amazon and worth a try. I have personally tested it on both my Android and BlackBerry 10 devices and it works perfectly on both. Click on the download link below to get it before it goes back to its original price of $0.99.
